After I finished reading The Princess Diaries, I thought I should watch the movie, and I did.
I had a great deception because of it. It had some bits from the book, but the rest was all new, really, most of it was new. It was like watching a movie about another book that had a couple of similarities with the book I had just read. And in the movie they did some pretty big mistakes. The one that annoyed me the most thought was that, in the book, Genovia (place she is going to govern) is a small place between Italy and France, I don't know if it was done on purpose, but in the movie Genovia is a small Principality between France and Spain. (If I heard correctly) And that is exactly where Andorra is. I was very annoyed by this, in a way, I found it insulting. I mean, what a difference would it have made if Genovia was between France and Italy, or France and Spain? They don't even show the place in definition, no one would have complained, if this imaginary principality looked like the invisible community between France and Italy. But, if you put it somewhere where something real actually exists, don't film it there, and don't even quote it! Well, I think that is something to care about.
Maybe you won't think of this issue as much as I do, after all, Andorra, is a teeny-tiny place. So let me add an example. (i.e.) What if someone decided to make a movie in the present times, and in this movie, there is this country, but instead of inventing a location for it, in an un-inhabited place, or just not mentioning where this place is, they say it's an island in the Mediterranean sea, surrounded by places like, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria amongst others. Well, I don't know about you, but I'd be pretty offended by It, and I am, it's as if they’re sponsoring to the world that Andorra doesn't exist, and instead of it, lies this magical place called Genovia. (I mean, I might be wrong, I was kind of sleepy, so I tried to re-watch the movie and listen for it, but I keep skipping the place! >.< Although I was pretty sure I heard right the first time, but I don't really want to believe it)
